*2010 Non-deductible portion of dues & voluntary dues DISCLAIMER!!*

Payments to the Telluride Association are not deductible as charitable contributions; however, such payments may be deductible as ordinary business expenses in accordance with IRS rules and regulations.  The $37.37 of your year 2010 dues, and the $25.00 for PSF voluntary dues is not deductible as a business expense because this portion is used for lobbying at the state and national levels.

In 1993, Congress passed a law prohibiting the deduction of the portion of members’ dues that are used by an association for lobbying efforts.

Each year, CAR calculates the portion of our budget that is used for lobbying and determines what percent of CAR dues should be non-deductible as a business expense for REALTORS®.  NAR is subject to the same law and conducts the same calculation.

The 2010 Colorado Association of REALTORS® total dues will be the current amount of $130.00.

For the 2010 dues billing statements the non-deductible dues breakout is as follows, $25.00 (recommended for fare share goal) PSF Voluntary, $11.37 of CAR dues AND $26.00 of NAR dues are non-deductible.
